Hope Comes in Pink and Baby Blue

The baby blue sky and soft pink clouds of morning

Hold promise that this day, grace will arise

In wounded hearts a-hardened in the cold—

Hearts wanting surety,

And practiced hands trying one more time to get it right,

So love will flow at their command.

It matters not my posture or my vocal recitations—

Will I ever get it right?

What matters is the morning revelation

Of God’s love in pink and blue

That comes, unbidden, freely, gently

Needing only opened eyes responding to the call.  hope

About dmdubay

Since retiring from Northwest Airlines and moving to the Pacific Northwest, I have more time to devote to writing. My first novel, "Tales of Two Sisters" was published over a year ago. I have been writing poetry for a long time and am attempting to collate my poetry into a short book, with pictures. A sequel to "Tales of Two Sisters" should be getting closer to completion soon. Gardening and tending the vineyard take a lot of time in the summer. Even though I love the outdoors, these activities do cut down on my writing. So I appreciate that wintertime allows me time to write. Writing, for me, is what brings things into focus and helps me to make sense of the things that life brings. It is a gift to me and I hope that it will be to you also.

Thank you! Last Tuesday morning the sky you described miraculously appeared over Tri-Cities ,WA. I was on my way to bring Holy Communion to a dying parishioner of St. Joseph’s. Kim’s 10 month struggle with Cancer would come to an end & she would be lifted into by the Merciful arms of Christ to receive Love that has no limit. After ADORATION & Mass on my way the wintery sky glowed uncomingly Spring-ish for winter. I arrived & crossed over Kim’s large snow covered front yard to arrive at her door & remember I had left my mask in the car. Tromping back over the snow covering the yard to retrieve it. I turned again toward the house & midway made the sign of the cross over myself only to arrive back at the front door & was met by Kim’s best friend for 55 years, a Quaker. Kim had just passed. May the souls of the Faithful departed rest in Peace & may perpetual light shine upon them +

Another moving poem to remind each of us, we don’t have to get everything just right. Only God can get things perfect. Our hope is to “respond to the call” and do our best each day.
