A friend invited me to participate in an activity I have never done before and I am excited to try it. It involves helping to feed the hungry. I guess it is like working in a soup kitchen. I know in my head that there are many in this community whose basic needs are not met: needs of food, shelter or safety. I will now have the opportunity to learn with my heart what it is to serve my brothers and sisters.

And while you are there think about how very hard it is for many of those folks to be in the asking line instead of the giving line. I know from my experiences this last three years of trying to live on a .2FTE and having to rely on the generosity of friends and family how much I HATE being poor. I HATE asking my mom for money. I would so much rather be on the giving side than the taking side. And unfortunately I didn’t learn anything from the experience except that I want a full time job VERY much so I don’t have to ask anymore.
